⚑ Decision required before publishing — choose a programme name
Three naming options for the sponsorship programme
The name should signal both the educational purpose and the South African context. It needs to work as a URL (gemis.tech/[name]/), as a headline, and as a brand that can grow independently. Remove this decision section before the page goes live.
The Bridge Fund
English · direct, functional, universal
Bridges the gap between well-resourced and under-resourced schools. Bridges the gap between knowing AI exists and knowing how to use it. "Fund" signals there's a formal giving mechanism — appropriate for corporate CSI and foundation donors who need to describe it in their annual reports. Clear, unambiguous, easy to explain to a board. URL: gemis.tech/bridge/
"The Bridge Fund — closing the AI gap in South African schools."
Vula
isiZulu/isiXhosa · "Open" — as in open a door
Vula means "open" — open the door, open the way, open access. It carries the sense of possibility without being aspirational to the point of vagueness. One word, easy to say in any language, carries immediate meaning to most South Africans. The risk: it is used by other SA initiatives (Vula Mfana, etc.) — worth a trademark check. URL: gemis.tech/vula/
"Vula — opening AI access for South African schools."
My recommendation is Isibani — it has no existing brand conflicts, it is distinctly South African without excluding any language group, and "the lamp" is a more precise image than "the bridge" or "the door." The lamp lights without replacing — which is exactly what the programme does. The name also works well as a standalone brand if the programme ever grows beyond GTA. That said, all three are good names and the decision is yours.
Isibani · A GEMIS Technical Academy Initiative

South Africa has 30,000 schools.
AI will widen the gap.

The AI gap between well-resourced and under-resourced schools will widen unless someone closes it. Your sponsorship puts a trained facilitator, a full curriculum, and free AI tools into a school that couldn't otherwise access them. The materials belong to the school forever.

The problem we're solving

The schools that need AI most
are the least likely to get it.

South Africa's well-resourced schools will adopt AI tools through their own budgets, their connected parent communities, and their access to international training content. The majority won't. That gap — already wide — will become a defining feature of educational inequality in this country unless someone intervenes deliberately.

Education Excellence™ was built for the schools that can't wait. CAPS-aware, POPIA-aware, connectivity included, delivered by locally based facilitators who know the context. But curriculum and facilitators cost money. That's where sponsorship closes the last gap.

R300pp
Cost per educator for a full half-day of professional AI training at your school.
The school owns the materials after TRANSFORM. The impact doesn't end when the programme does.
"South African teachers spend enormous amounts of time on tasks that AI can handle in minutes. Education Excellence™ was built to change that — not to make teachers redundant, but to make them less tired. Every activity uses free tools educators can keep using every day after the programme ends."

More than a good feeling. Measurable impact.

Every sponsorship tier comes with documented outcomes — for your CSI report, your annual review, or your own satisfaction that the investment landed where it was intended.

For corporate sponsors

This is auditable CSI.
Not a donation into a void.

Education is a priority sector under the BBBEE Codes of Good Practice. Sponsoring education access for black South African teachers produces measurable, verifiable, auditable outputs that translate directly to your SED scorecard.

SED
Socio-Economic Development — Education sponsorships qualify for BBBEE SED points. Every rand spent on a qualifying beneficiary is measurable against your scorecard targets.
B/I
Black and Indian beneficiaries — Schools in historically disadvantaged communities meet the qualifying beneficiary requirements. Your GTA impact report provides the documentation.
1%
BBBEE SED target is 1% of NPAT. For many organisations, a TRANSFORM sponsorship at R139,999 satisfies a meaningful portion of that target with a single, fully documented investment.

Become a delivery agent

Teachers and graduates:
this is your opportunity.

Education Excellence™ is delivered by trained regional agents — people who work within your community and know the context your schools operate in. We train and certify you. We handle the administration and quality assurance. You deliver the sessions and earn per engagement.

Training and certification provided
GEMIS Technical Academy trains and certifies every regional agent. You don't need to build the curriculum — you deliver it. Approximately 30% of sessions receive unannounced quality visits to maintain consistent standards.
Work in your own community
Agents operate within their own province and region. This is not a remote or centralised service. You know the schools, you know the context, and your proximity reduces travel cost and time.
Agents can handle purchasing on behalf of schools
If a school can't navigate online purchasing, you can handle the proforma invoice request and coordination on their behalf. Extended 14-day invoice terms apply to agent-facilitated purchases.
Who we're looking for
You don't need to be a technology expert. You need to be credible in a school environment, committed to the quality standard, and locally based.
Retired teacher, lecturer, or education professional
Recent education graduate looking for meaningful work
Comfortable using a laptop and basic AI tools (we train you)
Based in a South African province with school access
Willing to complete the GTA agent certification programme
Committed to consistent quality standards and quality visits

Every school deserves access

Not just the ones
that can afford it.

South Africa has more than 30,000 schools. The majority are under-resourced and underfunded. The AI gap between well-resourced and under-resourced schools will widen unless someone intervenes. For the cost of a single SPARK session — R5,999 excl. VAT — a sponsor gives 30 educators a full half-day of professional AI training. Every certificate issued carries the sponsor's name.
